For Cameron Thomas, talent was never in doubt. By the time he came to me, Kanvis Media had already shot for Nike and had national commercial work behind it.

The gap was elsewhere. His work lived on Instagram, scattered across a feed, and a feed only shows you a finished clip. It cannot show a brand manager the thinking and the coordination that produced it. The studio had no identity of its own and nothing a decision maker could be sent. For the clients who judge a studio by its process rather than its highlight reel, there was nothing to judge.

The diagnosis was a container problem. Instagram is a container that reads personal creative, small commercial jobs. A studio site with a considered portfolio reads commercial director, hire for campaigns. The work was already at the tier global brands hire. There was just no place for that tier of buyer to put him.

So Kanvis got an identity built around the energy and the attention to detail Cameron and his team bring to a set, steered deliberately away from the moody, static cinematographer look the rest of the category uses. Then the portfolio site was built so every project reads as a case study. A documented body of work with a clear account of how it was made, rather than a reel a viewer has to interpret.

That is what a brand marketing team needs before they can hand a name up the chain. Not proof that the footage is good, they can see that in ten seconds. Proof that the shoot was run by someone who can be trusted with a campaign budget and a deadline.

It is also the difference between a videographer and a cinematographer, and it is the one Cameron wanted to stand on.

Kanvis Media's client list includes Tommy Hilfiger, Cadillac's Formula 1 team, Virgin Voyages, Sony Music Group, and NVIDIA.

Delivered June 2026.

Before the Kanvis studio and portfolio site, I was mainly landing smaller boutique clients and the occasional commercial through Instagram outreach. Now I'm shooting for brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Cadillac F1, Virgin Voyages, and Sony Music Group.
